Fatal Crash in Johnson County, Texas Claims 6 Lives and Injures 3, Including Two Children Aged 9 and 10

Johnson County In a tragic incident on Tuesday, a fatal head-on collision occurred in Johnson County, Texas, resulting in six fatalities and three individuals sustaining injuries. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a major crash along a highway in the Nemo area, located about 50 miles southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Details of the Tragic Incident

According to information released on Wednesday by the DPS, all six individuals who lost their lives were passengers in one of the two vehicles involved in the collision, ranging in age from 9 to 64 years old.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Silverado truck was heading south on U.S. 67, while a Honda Odyssey van was traveling north on the same road, where the posted speed limit is 70 mph. DPS investigators believe the truck entered the northbound lane in a no-passing zone, resulting in a tragic head-on collision with the van.

Victims and Sole Survivor Identified: Johnson County

The release from Wednesday identified Rushil Barri, 28, of Irving, Texas, as the driver of the van, who tragically lost his life. The other five passengers who perished were from Alpharetta, Georgia, including Lokesh Potabathula, 43, the sole survivor in the minivan.

The heartbreaking list of victims includes Naveena Potabathula, 36, and the couple’s two children, 9-year-old Nishidha Potabathula and 10-year-old Krithik Potabathula. Additionally, Naveena Potabathula’s parents, 60-year-old Sitamahalakshmi Ponnada and 64-year-old Nageswararao Ponnada, also lost their lives in the tragic collision.

Lokesh Potabathula and two 17-year-olds from the pickup truck, Luke Resecker and Preston Glass of Glen Rose, were transported to Fort Worth hospitals in critical condition.

Seatbelt Usage Highlighted: Johnson County

The DPS release emphasized that only two individuals in the van were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision, underscoring the importance of seatbelt usage for safety on the road.
